Eileen L. Cooley, Ph.D.

Welcome to my website and thank you for your interest.

My private practice is focused on individuals and couples, and I specialize in helping clients who are experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, or communication problems.  I utilize interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and insight-oriented perspectives to help clients find success and meet desired goals in their personal lives and within their relationships.  I was trained in Clinical Psychology at Emory University and have been a licensed psychologist in Georgia for over 30 years.

Psychotherapy is a very individual process that can vary with the specific problems you are addressing.  I believe the best therapeutic relationships are collaborative.  After our initial period of consultation, we will decide together on our course of action to help you achieve your goals or manage your situation more effectively.  I believe it is important to provide a warm and accepting environment where personal exploration, insight, and change can take place.

I have been a faculty member at Agnes Scott College where I taught Abnormal Psychology, Introduction to Counseling, Life-span Development and Psychology Practicum.  I have conducted workshops on communication skills and wrote professional articles on attachment styles, depression, and nonverbal communication.  In addition, I have published a book on widowhood and a children’s book addressing internal conflicts.
